Great opportunity for an experienced quality control technician at our Glendale Aggregates plant! The Quality Control Technician collects daily samples, runs tests, documents and reports results in support of our program to produce quality products which meet our customers’ specifications.

The successful candidate will have a variety of responsibilities including scale operator and water truck operation. This position is a combination of field activities as well as work in a lab and scale house. Prior experience with testing of concrete trial batches is a plus. Training is provided.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Collect samples and run tests as required in the Drake QC program.
  • Perform quality assurance tests on trial batches of concrete mixes.
  • Document and report results to ensure production processes are compliant with product and customer specifications.
  • Maintain testing equipment, ensuring cleaning and proper calibration of equipment.
  • May assist the scale operator to certify weights of materials and trucks.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED required; familiarity with chemistry or lab equipment is a plus.
  • Ability to follow instructions and meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills are required.
  • Must be dependable and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs desirable. SAP experience is a plus.
  • Strong teamwork and focus on achieving goals is required.
  • Desire to deliver the best products to our customers is a must.
  • Excellent communication skills and an attention to detail are needed on a daily basis.
  • Strict adherence to safety practices and company safety and environmental policies are required.
  • Prior weighmaster experience helpful.
  • Valid Arizona driver license required and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a background check and physical prior to employment.

Great opportunity for an experienced loader operator to join our team in Glendale! The successful candidate will be assigned to our second shift from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Ability to work a flexible schedule with some Saturdays is required. Training will be provided. Skills and Experience

  • At least two years of experience operating loaders in a sand or gravel plant.
  • Ability to apply knowledge of mechanical functioning of various components on the equipment and make necessary repairs related to the equipment as they occur.
  • Ability to understand service and repair manuals relating to equipment and/or parts.
  • Good communication skills in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
  • Ability to recognize different aggregate materials.
  • Ability to climb ladders and operate equipment safely.
  • Dependable and reliable.
  • Must have a valid AZ driver’s license and a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Operate loader to stock aggregates for processing and charge the plant with raw materials.
  • Maintain an adequate feed of materials at all times, build stockpiles and keep plant areas clean.
  • Help perform general maintenance at the plant such as shoveling, greasing and other minor mechanical duties.
  • Operate at all times in a safe manner, complying with all safety procedures and programs as well as environmental requirements.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on the equipment, reporting any necessary maintenance that is needed.
  • Complete paperwork with respect to the loader, including pre- and post-shift inspections, and maintain equipment maintenance records.
  • While operating equipment, avoid hazards and immediately report unsafe conditions.
  • Willingness to work additional hours when needed.
  • Knowledge and understanding of MSHA rules and regulations.

Great opportunity for someone who likes interacting with customers to join our Drake Aggregates team in Mesa! The Scale House Operator is a customer service-oriented person who is responsible for weighing, ticketing and monitoring loads of material coming in and out of the aggregate plant. The successful candidate monitors all vehicles entering and leaving the locations and ensures that MSHA requirements are reviewed and signed off on. Communication with trucking companies and pit operators is necessary to facilitate and expedite loading of material into trucks and directing material coming in. This is a full-time position with a comprehensive benefits package.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Weighing and ticketing of trucks;
  • Tracking and managing of inventory;
  • Accepting payments;
  • Logging information into the computer in an accurate and timely manner to support billing;
  • Basic office support functions including typing, filing, and answering calls;
  • May occasionally travel to another aggregates plant to support operations;
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed and properly documented.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent;
  • Prior experience in an Aggregates operation or as a weighmaster is ideal;
  • Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently;
  • Ability to keep time and material records;
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions;
  • Knowledge of aggregate sizes and classifications is a plus;
  • Knowledge of weight requirements of loads leaving the pit;
  • Knowledge of soils, sand and aggregate classification to help produce spec material through the crushing operation;
  • Prior MSHA certification is helpful;
  • Excellent customer relation skills;
  • Absolute integrity and strict adherence to company policy regarding inventory and payment collection;
  • Possess an AZ Deputy Weighmaster certificate or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire;
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical.

Excellent opportunity for an experienced Heavy Equipment/Yellow Iron Diesel Mechanic to join our Drake Aggregates operation. The Diesel Mechanic maintains company equipment in four Aggregate plant sites through troubleshooting, analyzing malfunctions, making repairs and utilizing preventative maintenance schedules. Responsible for a variety of equipment including trucks, loaders, pumps, compressors and pneumatic tools. Plans and executes preventative maintenance schedules to maximize reliability, minimize failures and protect machinery. This is a full-time position with a company-provided truck.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance and maintain accurate records
  • Lubricate and cleans parts and equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Operate and inspect machines or equipment to diagnose defects
  • Dismantle and reassemble equipment
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges
  • Replace defective parts and assemblies.
  • Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Schedule and perform preventative maintenance and maintains accurate records
  • Lubricate and clean parts and equipment to ensure proper operation
  • Weld broken parts and structural members; fabricate parts as needed
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed and properly documented.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and 5 years’ related experience
  • Diesel repair and other technical certifications are preferred, or equivalent experience
  • Experience repairing and overhauling industrial equipment including hydraulic systems, diesel engines, gas engines, pneumatic systems, and pumps related to loaders, forklifts, graders, and water trucks
  • Ability to torch and weld
  • Ability to work varied hours as needed
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, logic diagrams, and use electrical testing equipment
  • Computer skills preferred
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
  • Valid AZ driver’s license and satisfactory driving record
  • CDL or ability to obtain a CDL
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment physical
  • Ability to travel to our four aggregates locations in Mesa/Glendale/Queen Creek and Sun City. May require occasional travel to quarry operations in north-central AZ
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
